CARE4MH is thrilled to introduce an innovative service that reflects our commitment to advancing mental health care within the Mackay region – the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Clinic, set to commence in 2024. The CARE4MH Nurse Practitioner (NP) Rhonda, will be providing comprehensive and specialised care for individuals with acute and chronic mental health needs.
NPs are Registered Nurses with a wealth of experience, having not only earned their original nursing degree but also completed a Master of Nurse Practitioner program, coupled with postgraduate studies in their specific health specialty. This rigorous education equips them with the skills, knowledge, and autonomy necessary to diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of mental health conditions.
Within the Mental Health NP Clinic, Rhonda will provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnosis and reports, psychotherapy, formulation of personalised care plans, and prescribing and adjusting psychotropic medications within a collaborative model of care with patient’s allocated GP or Psychiatrist.
The services provided by the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Clinic encompass education on mental health, recovery, and medication management.
CARE4MH is dedicated to fostering a healthier and more resilient community. The introduction of the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Clinic signifies our commitment to staying at the forefront of mental health care, providing individuals with the specialised support they need to thrive. We look forward to the positive impact this new service will have on the well-being of our community.
